An RFQ enters with its type: new tooling or transfer tooling. New tooling carries its architecture — standard, family, multi-shot — and its melt delivery: hot, cold, hybrid. Processing inputs are listed against the record: cycle, cavitation, material, secondary operations, labor.

Variants are first-class. Customers ask for red, black, and grey; they ask for three MOQ levels; they ask for alternate purchased items. Each variant is priced as its own line under the same RFQ — costs calculated, margins assigned, options compared side by side.
Automation

The system does the checking an estimator does on a good day, every day: purchased-item usage risk is flagged automatically when the quoted MOQ sits below a purchased-item quantity break, and the correct quantity break is selected automatically from the quoted volume.

Chapter 02 · Project Manager

When a quote wins, the project launches from the RFQ — with everything attached.

Win the job, launch the project directly from RFQ Manager. Every input, output, calculation, and document behind the winning quote carries over. Nothing is re-keyed; nothing is lost between the person who quoted it and the team that launches it.

Stage gates, budgets, timelines, and tasks are all configurable to how your company actually runs launches. Scope changes are revisions: the project updates, and the previous scope is frozen — so the post-mortem at the end compares what was promised against what happened, on the record.

Chapter 03 · Pricing Manager

The source of commercial truth. Every item has a Command Center.

Open an item. Its Command Center answers the questions that otherwise take a week of archaeology:

  • What inputs and parameters set the current price — costs, margins, assumptions?
  • How was it originally quoted?
  • Do current margins meet company standards?
  • What changed between pricing revisions?

A BPU session reprices the affected book and commits: every item activates through the same governed pipeline as an individual re-price, with its own revision, reason code, and quote line.

Forecast — model a change that hasn't happened. Rumor of a major purchased-item increase? Chapter 06 · Quote Log

The permanent register of quoting activity — written by actions, not by people.

Every completed action in an item's Command Center or a Pricing Lab session writes to the Quote Log on its own. Create a draft: a line opens, In Process. Activate the pricing: the same line closes, Completed. Issue a budgetary quote from a what-if: logged, marked as forecast. Revise, supersede, cancel — every status is the direct consequence of a governed action.

No status is ever set by hand. Nobody maintains a quote tracker, nobody updates a spreadsheet after the fact, and nobody wonders whether the log is current — it cannot be anything else.

Chapter 07 · Lighthouse · Forecast Manager

An auto-generated rolling 12-month forecast — financial, capacity, and purchased-item usage.

Lighthouse combines multiple forecasting models over historical and active item data, using a proprietary methodology. Nobody builds the forecast; the record does.
